中国有⑤⓪多民族，除了汉族之外还有很多民族有自己的语言文字，所以汉语不能代表所有中国语言，我国①般不把汉语叫中语、中国语。貌似在清朝时候还没有“中文”的说法，只有“汉文”，但因为汉字在中国范围内属于官方语言文字并且使用人数和使用场景均处于绝对多数，所以在外国人看来汉文几乎等同于中国文字，所以中国在推翻满清统治后为了彰显汉字在中国的地位就习惯于把汉文叫中文了。

我觉得吧，最主要的还是为了照顾少数民族，才没有把汉语说成国语，而是改成了语文。民国时期汉语是规定成国语的官方称呼。新中国成立后，政府为了充分显示民主，充分照顾少数民族的情绪，才把汉语的原来称呼‘国语’改为语文，汉字改为中文（原为国文），汉话改为普通话（原为国话）。我觉得现在汉语的称呼，最大原因是要照顾少数民族
