  　　NahkampfkanoneII　　Thisself-propelledgunwasoneofthemostinterestingSwiss-madearmoredvehicles,despitethefactthatitwasneveracceptedinservice.Itwasnottotallyoriginalperse-itwasmorelikeanassemblyofexistingsolutionsinventedbyotherpartiesanditwasbynomeansbad,theprogramwascancelledforeconomicreasons,notdesignones.　　TherequirementsfortheNK2werelaiddowninMarch1943withtherealdesignworkstartingon28.1.1944whentheSPGparameterswerefinalizedassuch:　　-75mmgunor105mmhowitzer　　-maximumdepression:-14degrees　　-maximumelevation:+26degreesforthegunor+38degreesforthehowitzer　　-telescopicandperiscopesightsavailable　　Intheend,theNK2("closecombatgun")projecttookawhiletodevelop,asmanyas4variantsofthevehiclewereconsidered.InJanuaryof1946,asingleprototypewasmade-theonlyoneofthefourthatwouldbeactuallybuilt.Itweighed24tonsandwasarmedwitha75mmL/49gun.Itsfrontalarmorwas70mmthickanditsmaximumspeedwas50km/h.ThevehiclehadafrontaltransmissionthatresembledtheAmericandesignactually,butwasoftheWilsontype(clearlyinfluencedbytheCzechoslovak-madePanzerwagen39).ThehullwasinturnheavilyinfluencedbytheFrench(partiallycast,partiallyboltedwithcurves).Thecrewconsistedoffivemen-commander,loader,driverandtwogunners,alegacyofthemainweaponbeingoriginallyanAAgun.Thevehiclewaspropelledbya12-cylinderSaurer16literCV1DLengine,producing300horsepower.ThesuspensionwasamixofCzech(drivesprocket,supportrollers),American(roadwheels)andGerman(PanzerIV-styleidler)influence.　　Eventhoughtheself-propelledgunconceptwasbecomingsomewhatobsolete,thevehicleturnedouttobequitegood,especiallyconsideringthefactthatSwitzerlandwasnotexactlyexperiencedintankdesignatthatpoint.ThevehiclewasassembledandtestedinThun,whereitiscurrentlylocatedaswell.Unfortunately,aftertwoyears,theprojectwascancelledforeconomicreasons.TheCzechoslovaksofferedSwitzerlandthe15-tonG-13tankdestroyer,whichwasalreadymass-produced.TheNK2mantletbythewaycomesfromaG-13aswell.　　Despitenotbeingmass-produced,theNK2actuallyturnedouttobefine.DespitesomesimiliaritiestotheG-13,itwascompletelyoriginallydeveloped.
